Bridge of Peace

" If all the women in the world become sisters, men cannot wage war anymore"

French American Bridge of Peace
28 may 2005

Sixty  women and a few men gathered in Paris for the sisterhood ceremony

between French and American women.
Fifteen pairs could cross the Bridge of Peace and embrace each other with a
warm heart.
Our American guest speaker, Mrs Stephanie Gravrand expressed the need for
both countries to come closer.

When her family moved to France in her young
age, she experienced some anti-American actions 'Yankees go Home".
Some American women were very happy for such opportunity to find a

French 'sister' ,and they were moved by the beautiful American video about the
initiative of Peace in Jerusalem organised last year in May.

Belgium - German Sisterhood

Holiday Inn Garden Court, Brussels, Belgium, 19.June.2004

„What was meant to be, came to be!“, and therefore the Belgian-German Sisterhood and Bridge of Peace Ceremony finally came into being, after having been postponed from late May.

The participants arrived either on Friday evening, Saturday morning, or Saturday afternoon, and departed this European metropole in shifts, the last car leaving for Dresden on Monday afternoon. Consequently, everyone had a very special experience, with they made into their own by dining in “Little Italy”, or visiting the European Parliament.  Interludes of rain and sunshine accompanied each participant, and added to the charm of Brussels!

The Holiday Inn Garden Court lay in the vicinity of the Atomium, and was a perfect surrounding for this venue.   Colette Cunningham, Pres., WFWP-Belgium, and Ingrid Lindemann, Pres., WFWP-Germany spoke.

The Bridge of Peace Ceremony was gracefully carried out, and entertainment was presented by Heidi Wakayama, from Neuss, Germany, and her son and daughter, on the keyboards, viola, and flute, respectively.

Sixteen sisters pairs were created, two of which were from the younger generation, and four men became brothers, making two male pairs.  The guests joined in this bonding of hearts and souls, an eternal bonding of the spirit!

The german participants dined with Colette, and her husband, Aidan, at a lovely thai-vietnamese restaurant. The night was mild, the music latin, and suddenly we were all as one, in  European unity – a unity of heart, soul, and spirit!
